Soap making is a fun process that can be a great hobby for personal use or gifts for family and friends. There are two main processes, the cold process and the melt and pour method. Both are simple to do but the melt and pour is probably the easiest. To make soap by the cold process first gather all your ingredients together and weigh out each item so everything is ready and at hand. Make up your solution and leave to cool. It should tell you how to do this on the packet. Next, melt your hard oils. These will need to be about 100 degree Fahrenheit before moving on to the next bit. This is where the actual soap process starts. Slowly add your lye solution to the oils stirring all the time. Your new mix will start to go cloudy which is normal. This process is called going to trace and is the point of no return in soap making where the oils and lye no longer separate. It is best to use a hand blender at this point in short bursts as it takes a long time if done by hand. At this stage add your fragrance oils. And if you are adding any other products like petals or beads then you can mix these in at this time too. One that is thoroughly mixed, add your colour pigment. This can be done all in one if you just want a uniform colour but if you want swirls in your soap, ladle out about a cup of mixture mix in the colour then holding several inches above the pot slowly pour your colour mix into the plain mix in one corner of your pot. Then taking a spatula, swirl the mixture together being careful not to over mix. Gently pour your soap onto moulds using a back and forth motion scraping out the last bits. To make sure there are no bubbles in gently tap your mould this also smoothes out the soap. You need to put your soap in a warm place now to cure and harden for at least 24 hours. The mix does get hot at this point. Once hard gently ease soap out of the mould and cut into size suitable for your needs. The soap is now ready for use but in order for it properly hardens so it will last longer they recommend that you leave for another 4 weeks. The melt and pour method is much easier. Cut your base soap in to small chunks and melt. This takes about a minute in the microwave but make sure you use a suitable container and cover with cling film. Take out and stir. If the chunks have not completely melted put back in for another 30 seconds. Let this cool down slightly before adding your essential oils and colour mixing thoroughly. Pour soap into a mould and let cool. If you cover the mould you can put it in the fridge to do this and will take a few hours. Once the soap has set and is hard gently tap out of its mould and cut into usable sizes. Your soap is now ready for use so enjoy!

Implement A Proper Cleansing Skin Care Regime in Your Daily Routine

It has been determined that most women only need to cleanse their faces at night using a safe cleanser. Avoid using soap at all cost. Soap should be used only on your neck downwards. Since most soaps contains some harsh ingredients. The importance of cleansing skin care cannot be stressed enough.

When cleansing your face do no use hot water as this will make your face dry and stiff, which can lead to wrinkles being formed. Use warm water and a small amount of your favorite cleanser. In addition, for exceptional result you need to use a cleansing mask and a hydrating mask alternately at least twice per month. This is a must if you want to maintain beautiful clean skin.

Never sleep with make up – this can clog your pores and lead to acne breakouts. The correct way to wash your face is to use warm water to loosen dirt & clogged pores. Use a dime-sized bit of cleanser and gently apply it in a circular motion, then rinse with cool water.

Cool water tends to tighten the skin.

Cleansing skin care has to be done routinely with the right products. You have to choose wisely when purchasing. Another thing to ensure that you can fit this regime in your daily routine is to organize your products so they are ready for you in the morning so you do not have to waste any time trying to find what you need.

When selecting cleansing skin care products ensure that you use products that do not contain any chemical by-products. You only should be using products that contain natural plant extracts. Remember what you put on your skin should be as good as what you put in your mouth. Use a cleansing mask and a hydrating mask alternately every two week in conjunction with your daily cleansing routine.

For that smooth baby-like skin your cleansing mask should contain ingredients such as Kaolin a special extract from a New Zealand clay. It absorbs oil and gently pulls out grime from your skin. Due to its mildly drying and disinfectant properties it helps heal blemishes and inflammation and stops new blemishes from forming.

Bentone Gel: This improves the cleansing effectiveness on your skin. It is specially formulated to complement other active ingredients in this cleansing mask.

Macadamia Oil: This is a luxurious oil which is easily absorbed into your skin and it protects the skin cells from aging. This along with Shea Butter which is a natural moisturizer and emollient that works to soften your skin. It helps to soothe inflamed skin and will not dry it out.

You have to go after what you want and if beautiful skin is the thing you want most then implementing a cleansing skin care routine is a sure way to achieving beautiful, soft, smooth and even-toned skin.

When you go into hotels, do you notice those specially made soaps that make their bathrooms extra attractive? Or have you seen soaps that are displayed in specialty stores? These soaps may seem really hard to make and you might think that these require special equipment and machinery to make. But contrary to what you may think, soap making is an easy process that you can do at home. The main process of making soap is called saponification. It is done by mixing fats and lye in water and these two ingredients will undergo a reaction that will result in the formation of soap. With only these two ingredients, you will already be able to make the basic type of soap. There are two ways of how saponification can be done. The first is through the hot process, which involves heating of the lye and water solution, then continued heating upon addition of the fats. This is used when the exact concentration of the lye cannot be determined, especially when lye that was used is impure. The other method of saponification is through the cold process. This method requires precise ingredients or it will not produce the soap that you desire. When lye and fat are mixed in water, heating is no longer required as this method relies on the heat produced by mixing water with lye. This method produces harder soap with better quality if done correctly. The first step in to making those soaps with advanced designs is by first mastering the basics. You will need to learn how to make soap that has the properties that you need by changing the type of fat you use, as well as the exact amounts that you will need. Once you have mastered how to make the basic soap, you can then move on to making more advanced designs. The more advanced designs would of course require more ingredients and new techniques. You would need dyes, scented oils and other ingredients that you would like to add to your soap, such as moisturizers. This way, you will be able to control the color, smell and properties of your soap. In addition to these, you may need several molds and knives so that you can shape and mold your soaps however you please. Even though soap making is a fairly easy process, it can also be dangerous if you do not take precautions. The danger basically lies in the handling of lye because lye is a very dangerous and corrosive substance. This should not be held with your bare hands. Mixing lye in water also results in the release of harmful fumes when inhaled. Wearing gloves and face masks are a must when handling this substance. The next time you see beautifully crafted soaps, you won’t have to be amazed or intimidated by their appearance. Instead, these can serve as inspirations to make your own designs and maybe in the future, you will be able to outdo these designs and you can also start selling your own soaps.

Best Crock Pot ? Making Homemade Soap

Finding the best crock pot can, sometimes, be a chore. This slow cooking appliance maintains a relative low temperature compared to baking, boiling or frying. Crock pot cooking is suitable for many delicious meals: pot roast, beef stew, chili and many more. Another use for the crock pot is making homemade soap!

The crock pot is made of glazed ceramic or porcelain. This kitchen appliance comes in different sizes, shapes, colors, styles and brands. It’s found in oval or round shapes, small to large, with dials or electronic controls in blue, red, black, white, brushed stainless steel, chrome or other various colors.

Some have see-thru lids making it easy to watch the contents, as it cooks. The heating element inside heats from the bottom and, partially, up the sides. It cooks and keeps the contents warm inside, for an extended amount of time.

It may be electronically programmable. Set your contents inside and program the time for it to start and finish cooking. You can have ready to eat meals, at the perfect serving temperature, when you come home from work or school.

Now, that is convenient!

Use it in RV’s, take camping, to friends, gatherings, or other social events, or just use at home. Some have locking lids, carry handles and travel bags to prevent spills while traveling. It can be used for large groups, small groups, for a family of two or just for one. If you have a soap making business, its size and portability is very convenient.

Clean up is easy! It has removable stoneware that is dishwasher safe or can be washed in the sink. Be careful not to burn your hands when removing the inner stoneware. It can get very hot. Turn it off, unplug it and let it cool before cleaning. Be sure to keep the power cord away from water. After cleaning, it’s easily stored in a cabinet or on a shelf. It can be left out on a counter top until it’s used again.

When making homemade soap the best crock pot is one that is twice the size of its contents. Hot process soap making causes bubbles to pop. Be sure to use the lid to cover hot splattering soap. When mixing or stirring, wear gloves to protect your hands and arms from bubbling hot soap. Also, consider using a long handled wooden spoon to give distance between you and the hot soap.

Starting A Soap Business ? 5 Tips To Get You Going

Does starting a soap business sound like play to you? Natural soap certainly does sell well and you really can turn a soap making hobby into a money creator very fast compared to many other home scale small business ideas. Here’s the thing, it costs so little to get going that many folks give soap marketing a try. Here are a few real world tips for starting and running a soap making and marketing venture.

Do you really want a business of any sort? Often turning a hobby into a business ruins the hobby and never makes any money either. Do you really want to deal with all that goes into interacting with people and selling? Then there’s volume production to consider. How would you like to move from making dozens of bars of soap to tens of thousands of bars? It may turn into a lot of work. Even making hundreds of soap bars in a fairly short time frame is much like real work.

Licenses and other obstacles need not be a complete stop.

Sometimes that’s the first thing business writers want to talk about. Get real… There are very few regulations about making soap. Now cosmetics, like lotions, are a completely different matter. Soap is not highly regulated, so that’s a real plus. Now licenses are something you should look into, but be realistic. To start, you’re probably just working at the hobby level. Don’t let the need for licenses stop you from getting started. Get what you need, but don’t be paralyzed into inaction.

The product is key and here’s why. Here’s the deal. There are plenty of people making soap. Why should anybody buy yours? Can you answer that easily? What you need is a product that truly is different, something that’s unique to you. That’s fairly easy to do with soap if you know how… and you can learn.

Marketing can be relatively easy if you get started a particular way. Making soap is one thing. Selling is quite another. Your plan should include a way to get people to try the product, hopefully a way to get lots of people to try it. There are ways, you know. Then the easy part is following up with customers to get repeat sales. Even though that’s easy, most soap makers don’t do it… probably because they don’t know how.

Can you make money selling soap? Possibly… That’s because there is a good potential profit in a bar of soap. The material cost is quite a bit less than the price a bar of soap brings. But you have to buy materials wisely, plus you have to move a lot of soap in a hurry. Both of those can be done, if you know what you’re doing.

My family learned about starting a soap business by doing it. We sold about 35,000 bars of soap, plus many other related items, working part-time. Starting a handcrafted soap business must be one of the easiest to start manufacturing businesses there is. However, you have a lot of competition so you have to get started right or you’ll probably at least waste time and maybe money as well…

If you’re not sure you entirely trust soap bars made by commercial producers because you don’t know what ingredients they put in or what they might leave out, or even how they’re made, then you might want to try making soap yourself. This is an especially good idea if you are trying to go organic, and making natural soap on your own will ensure that you can choose all the best ingredients. You can add the moisturizers that many commercial soaps seem to lack, and create an all around healthier product to use on your skin.

The essential process in natural soap making, or for producing any type of soap actually, is to mix a fatty acid with a base, which results in the soap itself. The base is usually soap lye, and the fatty acids are either vegetable or animal based oils. For a number of folks, using animal fats introduces questions about moral principles and humane treatment of the animals, so using oils produced from plant based products like grains, nuts and vegetables is normally more desirable and seems more natural. Soap made from these oils also tends to be better for the skin.

Keep in mind that you will also need to avoid preservatives when making natural soap, which means that your end product might not last as long as commercial brands. It’s not going to be likely that you can make huge batches that will sit for a long time. You may also want to go all natural with coloring your soaps, and could find your kitchen a treasure trove of soap making resources. Just a pinch of ground cloves in the mixture, and you have brown, while curry powder will make the soap yellow. Add a bit of beet root and you’ll have pink or red soap.

You’ll want to color your soap bars with such natural ingredients as these, and avoid things like food coloring, dyes used for cloth, any sort of paint, or dyes used in candles. You can also add extras like seeds or grains, but these should only be included in small amounts. Another addition, for extra moisture, may be oils like shea butter or avocado, but again, you should only use small amounts of these. Making natural soap involves the creation of something you know you can trust, with ingredients that you’re confident are safe and healthy.

If you are going to try soap making from scratch, then why not go all the way and make your soaps both completely natural and handmade? It’s not that far a stretch from making your own soaps in the first place to doing so with ingredients from nature, particularly if one of your incentives is that you don’t entirely trust the contents or the method of commercial soap making.

Making Vinyl Sidings Spic-and-span with Water and Soap

No matter how advanced building materials like vinyl sidings are, there is always a cleaning time involved for these products. Fortunately, cleaning sidings is not as hard as they were before the introduction of composite materials and plastics. As they say in home TV shopping, “Cleanup is a breeze.”

You need to regularly clean the siding of your house if it is surrounded by trees and flowers. Grade school science says bees are not the only beings capable of pollination, but also Mother Nature herself. The wind can bring the pollen and other materials to the nearest siding it makes contact with, providing a breeding ground for things like mold and mildew. It is imperative to wash away the mold and mildew’s breeding ground before they even appear to prevent structural damage in your siding.

No fancy siding cleaners here, just some plain water and detergent to make a siding clean and green.

Make sure to control the amount of water being sprayed to the siding, especially if you are using a garden hose. Always aim the hose toward the ground, as a siding is not designed to shield the home from water coming from the ground. When using a hose nozzle, set it to mist setting to avoid applying too much water that can seep into your interiors.

Create a detergent solution by mixing the powder and warm water, just as you would in washing clothes. An important thing to note is to not let the soapy water stand for a long while or it will dry and stain the siding Michigan homes have. Work by sections instead of as a whole to clean the siding without leaving soapy residues.

Home improvement experts do not recommend using chlorine-based bleaches for the cleaning solution. Chlorine is a toxic chemical that can kill plants around the vinyl siding Michigan homes have when it seeps into the soil. Read the labels about soap powders and other detergents to identify the non-toxic ones. You can normally learn about this by looking at the ingredients; but it never hurts to ask.

Perhaps the lesson here is that vinyl siding Michigan has to offer is designed for easy cleaning, not self-cleaning. Fortunately, you do not need any specialized cleaning solutions to make your siding appear good as new. Sometimes, the simplest of solutions are just as effective as what the market recommends to the public.

It has been determined that most women only need to cleanse their faces at night using a safe cleanser. Avoid using soap at all cost. Soap should be used only on your neck downwards.
